About Us

About Us

The Greater Cleveland Genealogical Society was established in 1972 and  became a chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society in 1983. We partner with other genealogy groups in North East Ohio such as the Cleveland District Round Table and the Cuyahoga County Lineage Group.

The purpose of the Society is to create and build interest in preserving and collecting historical and genealogical records of this and related areas of Ohio; to locate, catalogue, and preserve genealogical records and make them available to the public by publishing and circulating literature relative to the purposes and acquisitions of the Greater Cleveland Genealogical Society; to encourage and promote an active interest in genealogical research.

Membership is open to all interested individuals, families, libraries and Societies.
